Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about downloading, installing, and enjoying live wallpapers on your PC, Android phone, or iPhone.
General Questions
What are live wallpapers?
Live wallpapers are animated backgrounds that add motion and visual effects to your device. They can feature anime, video game scenes, cinematic visuals, nature, abstract designs, and more.
Are the live wallpapers free to download?
Check the download information on each wallpaper page for its availability and any applicable conditions. Where a wallpaper is offered as a free download, you can download it using the provided link.
What devices are supported?
Compatibility depends on the wallpaper format and your device. Our guides cover Windows desktop PCs, Android phones, and iPhones. Some wallpapers may require additional software or conversion before use.
What file format are the wallpapers available in?
Some wallpapers are provided as MP4 video files. Check the download section on the individual wallpaper page to confirm its format before downloading.
Can I use the same wallpaper on my PC and phone?
Sometimes. You should choose a version that matches your device’s screen orientation, resolution, and supported format. A landscape wallpaper made for a PC may need cropping to look good on a phone.
Downloading Wallpapers
How do I download a live wallpaper?
Open the wallpaper’s page, find its download link, and follow the instructions provided. Depending on your browser and device, the file may be saved to your Downloads folder or another selected location.
Why is my download not starting?
Check your internet connection, allow downloads in your browser, and make sure your device has enough free storage. If the link still does not work, try refreshing the page or using another browser.
Where are downloaded wallpapers saved?
Windows: Usually in the Downloads folder.
Android: Usually in Downloads, Files, or your browser’s download location.
iPhone: Usually in the Files app under Downloads. You may need to save the video to Photos before converting it into a Live Photo.
Why does my downloaded file have an MP4 extension?
MP4 is a common video format used for animated wallpapers. On Windows and many Android devices, you can use a compatible wallpaper program or built-in feature. On iPhone, an MP4 video generally needs to be converted into a Live Photo to animate as a Lock Screen wallpaper.
Is it safe to download live wallpapers?
Download files only from sources you trust. Video files such as MP4 are different from executable programs, but you should still avoid suspicious downloads, unexpected installers, and applications from untrusted sources.
Windows Desktop Wallpapers
How do I set a live wallpaper on my Windows PC?
Download the wallpaper video and open it with a compatible live wallpaper application. Follow the application’s instructions to apply it to your desktop. Windows does not generally set an ordinary MP4 video as a desktop wallpaper through its standard background settings alone.
For step-by-step instructions, visit our Desktop Live Wallpaper Guide.
Can I use an MP4 video as my desktop background?
Yes, with compatible live wallpaper software. The standard Windows background settings generally support static images and other built-in background options rather than continuous playback of an ordinary MP4 video.
Will live wallpapers slow down my PC?
They may use CPU, GPU, and memory resources. The impact depends on your hardware, video resolution, frame rate, and wallpaper software. If performance drops, try a lower-resolution video or configure your application to pause the wallpaper while games or full-screen applications are running.
Can I use live wallpapers on multiple monitors?
This depends on the live wallpaper application you use. Some programs support separate wallpapers on multiple monitors, while others may offer limited multi-monitor features.
Android Live Wallpapers
How do I set an MP4 live wallpaper on Android?
Download the MP4 video, then check whether your phone’s Gallery or wallpaper settings include a video wallpaper option. If not, install a compatible video live wallpaper application from the Google Play Store and follow its instructions.
Read our Mobile Live Wallpaper Guide for more information.
Can I use a live wallpaper on both the Home Screen and Lock Screen?
Some Android devices support both locations, while others support only one. The available options depend on your phone manufacturer, model, Android version, and wallpaper application.
Why can’t I find the video wallpaper option on my phone?
Not every Android phone includes a built-in feature for setting MP4 videos as wallpapers. If the option is missing, use a compatible application from the Google Play Store.
iPhone Live Wallpapers
Can I set an MP4 video directly as an iPhone wallpaper?
Generally, no. The standard iPhone wallpaper settings do not let you use an ordinary MP4 video as an animated wallpaper directly. You will usually need to convert the video into an Apple Live Photo first.
How do I convert an MP4 video into a Live Photo?
Use a reputable video-to-Live-Photo application that is compatible with your iPhone. Select the MP4 video, trim it if necessary, and export it as a Live Photo. Then select the Live Photo through Settings → Wallpaper → Add New Wallpaper.
Will the live wallpaper animate on my iPhone Home Screen?
Live Photo wallpapers on supported iPhones running iOS 17 or later can animate on the Lock Screen. They do not play continuously as an animated background on the Home Screen.
Why isn’t my iPhone Live Photo moving?
Make sure the image is actually a Live Photo, select it through the wallpaper settings, and enable the motion option if available. Your iPhone model and iOS version must support the feature.
Performance and Troubleshooting
Do live wallpapers drain battery life?
Animated wallpapers can consume more power than static backgrounds, but the impact varies. Video resolution, animation behavior, display settings, and your device all affect battery usage.
Why does my wallpaper look blurry or stretched?
The video may have a lower resolution or a different aspect ratio than your screen. Choose a higher-resolution version that matches your device, or adjust the fit and cropping settings in your wallpaper application.
Why does the wallpaper stop moving?
Some devices pause animations to save power, while some applications stop playback when the screen is locked or another app is running. Check your wallpaper application’s settings and your device’s battery-saving options.
What should I do if a wallpaper does not work?
Confirm that the download completed successfully, check the file format, and make sure your device supports the required playback method. You can also try another compatible application or download the file again.
Copyright and Usage
Who owns the characters and artwork featured in wallpapers?
Original characters, artwork, and other intellectual property remain subject to the rights of their respective copyright holders, which may include studios, publishers, artists, and other creators.
Does creating a fan-made wallpaper give someone ownership of the original characters?
No. Creating an animated or fan-made wallpaper does not automatically grant ownership of the original characters or underlying copyrighted material. The rights of the original copyright holders remain applicable, and a fan creator’s rights in new contributions depend on the circumstances and applicable law.
Can I use downloaded wallpapers for commercial purposes?
Do not assume that a wallpaper is available for commercial use simply because it can be downloaded for free. Check the applicable license and obtain permission from the relevant rights holders when required.
